We have heard about all the devestation and hardships people have suffered in these dreadful weather conditions. Has anyone mentioned the wildlife? How's the badger cull going, for instance. There must be millions of dead creatures out there......................

The badger cull was a bit of a disaster Arena. And some of the figures I saw for Ireland suggested that was going to be the case.
As for the floods and the wildlife, well it always seems to bounce back. There are people here who seem to care more about the hedgehogs than they do about people and their homes and businesses.

Just had a phone message saying that the flood warnings for Wraysbury are no longer in force - which is nice...
I suppose people feel that people are capable of looking after themselves, whereas wild-life is more at the mercy of natural events. I don't say they are right, but I would understand that kind of thinking. Anyway, hedgehogs are in crisis whereas we are over-populated!

(Hi Mildred) The cameras were in Scorps neck of the woods last night, showing how things are back to normal. The only sign of flooding being a few sacks piled in the corner of the squar.................hang on.......didn't they say last week it would take weeks and weeks, nay months to clear? (shome mishtake)

Chertsey Lane (Staines) is still closed by flooding. Our village green in Wraysbury is still partly under water, but levels have certainly fallen quite a bit. I have seen people returning sandbags to the collection points.
I think the flooded houses will take a long time to become habitable again.
