*I was a great fan of AT and it was my first introduction to many of our British actors. I have been having a look through some of the more memorable plays. Here's the very first back in 1956... www.imdb.com/title/tt0216057/

I used to love Saturday Night Theatre on the wireless... curled up in an armchair, the only light coming from the coal fire, and the voices of people like Fay Compton, Betty Hardy, Grizelda Harvey, Ralph de Rohan...

My earliest radio memories....
Dick Barton Workers' Playtime Listening to the Grand National with Mum, vying to see which of our horses was going to net our fortune (pretendy)

Worker's Playtime - producer Bill Gates - no, not that one... There was also Works Wonders - which was dire... go to a factory 'somewhere in England' and have a 'talent' contest, acts and audience the staff. BBC are still doing something similar on TV, without the factory. Still dire...

I think I recognise Alfie Bass but not the others. Who are they?

Next to Alfie Bass is Guy Kingsley-Poynter and front left is Andrew Faulds - the other guy could be Don Sharp.
