On the subject of women MPs, I did feel sorry for May. No-one seemed to want the job of taking us out of the EU, and she stepped forward. As a (prior) remainer she wasn’t ideal, but she could also see the huge problems that faced her and wasn’t prepared to do what Johnson then did and jump into an unworkable Irish plan. She was widely branded as the worst PM this century or perhaps in living memory (well, until Truss came along) but that was unfair as I see it

She tried to sort the mess out , honestly.

Well there's another by-election in Blackpool coming up in May. Same day as many council elections. So the GE is not going to be in May is it.
They're just going to drag this whole thing out and get 6/8 months salary aren't they. 69 so far not standing for re-election. How many more are looking for new jobs.

The old adage is it doesn't matter who we vote for the government always gets in. I have been a Labour voter all my life, I have abstained from the last two elections because of Corbyn, I will abstain again because I can't see anyone in any party good enough to be a PM, why would anyone vote for a for head prosecutor , they are used to locking people up aren't they? Like Mark Twain said " If voting made any difference they wouldn't let us vote, would they"

I have been reading about the SDP. As they have a number of policies I agree with (not all natch) I will vote for them in our Mayoral election.. ANYONE but Khan. If they field a candidate in the General Election then I will do the same (even though this is a Tory safe seat) But as least I might feel I am putting my X against something I actually hold with.

Yes, all who are registered and reside in a London borough - which goes out far beyond what you'd consider to be 'London' We are 22 miles outside!

They're quite right wing aren't they. I remember that they had an election pact with the Reform Party last time.

In some respects but not others - if you take a look at their web page, you might be surprised. I suppose I have become more right of centre.. it's an age thing 😄

Thanks Maris, I've had a look at the website. Some things are fine. Many wouldn't work and some are contradictory.
E.g allowing the over 65s to volunteer in adult social care to get credits towards their own care.
This is about the age most people are reducing hours and wanting to leave because social care is a physical job.

Yes, I said that some of their ideas are a bit whacky 😁🙄 And stepping back from work at 65? Much younger than that I'd say.. Mind you, I carried on after that which, in the end, I suddenly realised was barmy. I was spending my older, healthy years at The Chafford School! I don't know about you but this Angela Rayner capital gains storm is getting right on my wick. OK, so regardless of the amount (£sd) involved, low or high, it has to be paid, so same for Rayner as Zahawi. Therefore it'd be right to call for investigation but the police HAVE investigated and deemed no wrong doing. For goodness sake, why don't they give it a rest 🤔🫤

If I lived in the UK I wouldn't vote for either of them

I think it's actually a smear campaign because she called them 'scum' - possibly not the most appropriate term...but I think this is their idea of if payback.
Both sides make me disillusioned with politics at the present 😮💨
In a few weeks we will vote in the Mayoral election..anyone but Khan. Useless. And I am so angry with myself voting fir him.

Our crime commissioner and Mayor is coming up for election, Birmingham didn't elect the last one as we've always had our own mayor, he got in as we had been grouped with the larger vote which is all of the west Midlands. I won't now vote for any mayor or parliamentary candidates, I honestly feel that this crowd are all trained bulls- hitters.
