My advice is, technical and professional advice aside, don't bother asking for advice, and don't bother giving advice.
Only you know the exact situation you are considering, and only you know your feelings about it. You have weighed up the pros and cons, and your decision will be based on how you judge it at the time. Perhaps your decision will be based on morals, or fear, or selflessness or selfishness. Only in hindsight will you know if you made the right decision.
If anyone tries to advise you, nod politely and ignore them.

Be a good listener, and genuinely be interested .There are so many people today, that talk . But don't really listen .

I was talking to a neighbour the other day who said he and his wife were going to keep enough money for their funerals but that everything else would be deemed to be for spending. I thought that was good advice. At our age, we often scrimp when there's absolutely no need to. Hence, I bought French butter today. I prefer the taste!

There are four Native American Indian Spirituality Laws that say nothing happens for no reason in life. When you do understand this, it's very easy to handle and you confidently look at what's happening, thankful for what was there and happy for what's going to happen. The 1st law says: ′′The person you meet is the right one.′′ That is, no one comes into our lives by accident, all the people around us who interact with us, stand for something, either to educate us or to help us in our situation. The 2nd law says: ′′What happens is the only thing that can happen.′′ Nothing but absolutely nothing of what happens to us could have been different. Not even the most insignificant detail. There just isn't ′′ If I had done it differently... It would have been different..." No, what happens is the only thing that can happen and needs to happen, so we can learn our lessons to get ahead. Everything, yes, every situation that happens to us in life is absolutely perfect, even when our spirit resists our ego and doesn't want to accept it. The 3rd law says: ′′Every moment when something starts is the right time.′′ Everything starts at the right time, not sooner or later. When we are ready for something new in our life, it's already there to begin with. The 4th law says: ′′What's over is over.′′ It's that simple. When something ends in our life, it serves our development. That's why it's better to let go and move forward, bestowed on the experiences that have now been gained. I don't think it's a coincidence that you're reading this here. If this text meets you today, it's because you meet the conditions and understand that no rain drop anywhere in the world accidentally falls in the wrong place. Let it go well... Love with your whole being... Being happy without end... Every day is a happy, happy day.

I've always regarded the Possibly Proper Death Litany as both good advice and a demonstration of excellent counterculture writing. It dates - predictably perhaps - from the late sixties.

After my sister had her bank card cloned twice I would advise everybody to keep all your cards in a scan proof wallet/purse and not to hold it in your hand to be quicker at the checkout until you are ready to pay. N.B. cards can be scanned in your pockets or bags that are scan proof.
[Over £1.2 billion was stolen by criminals through authorised and unauthorised fraud in 2022, equivalent to over £2,300 every minute
78 per cent of APP fraud cases start online and 18 per cent start via telecommunications
The banking and finance industry prevented a further £1.2 billion of unauthorised fraud from getting into the hands of criminals
Over £1.2 billion was stolen through fraud in 2022, a reduction of eight per cent on 2021. The number of fraud cases across the UK was down four per cent to almost three million cases.]
So be extra careful when anyone enters your home not to have any cards where they can be easily found.

I've forgotten his name, but a philosopher is now saying, that soon there will be no safe way of using the internet and other techy stuff because nothing will be safe. He predicts we will go back to snail mail and keeping your money in a bank the old secure way, where we have to deal person to person.

He predicts we will go back to snail mail and keeping your money in a bank the old secure way, where we have to deal person to person. I closed my Santander account when it closed my local branch, I use my building society account more now, there seems to be more staff now and because people want face to face details and mortgages etc maybe that will let my branch stay open. People here now taking a month's holiday have returned to find their homes have been sold without their knowledge. That's because the land registry is been scammed. [Property fraud takes place when fraudsters try to 'steal' a property, most commonly by stealing the homeowner's identity and selling or mortgaging the property without the owners' knowledge. The fraudsters then disappear with any capital gain leaving the genuine owner to deal with the unfortunate consequences.]

That sounds horrendous. Having your home sold while you are away makes me want to stay home.

For all those who leave their freezers on while away from home for a fews days etc, place a small clear container with water in the freezer, then remove the container when frozen, now put a penny in the centre then put the container back in the freezer. If the penny sunk when you return then your freezer has thawed and refrozen.
