The first bit of a poem I'm working on....
The relentless sun has slipped beneath the distant hills The pyramids afar, lit by celestial candles Framed as evening swiftly chills A caravan slumbering by the darkening dunes Arguing camels are now silent as they rest Whilst the winding Nile reflects a thousand moons

You express the the atmosphere so well. Keep going with it. I look forward to reading the finished poem.
Just a little tale of friends who took a Nile cruise. Because of the heat, they left the boat at 5am each day to visit the temples along the river. I asked them how they enjoyed it. The answer was, that they were all "templed out" after 3 days. Also Peter tipped the wrong steward on board and they couldn't get any toilet paper for the whole cruise. I'm afraid I had to smile.
