The immune system is a host defense system comprising many biological structures and processes within an organism that protects against disease. To function properly, an immune system must detect a wide variety of agents, known as pathogens, from viruses to parasitic worms, and distinguish them from the organism's own healthy tissue. In many species, there are two major subsystems of the immune system: the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. Both subsystems use humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity to perform their functions. In humans, the blood–brain barrier, blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier, and similar fluid–brain barriers separate the peripheral immune system from the neuroimmune system, which protects the brain. If we all keep our distance surely that will weaken our immune systems to other things.

When my children were little, early 70s, the advice was let your young children loose in the garden to eat as much soil and muck as they wanted, which we did to the horror of friends and neighbours I don't think any of them has had a day off work or any illness

Us too ,J I went further and didn't give our children any sugar, sweets especially. I was a monster in the eyes of many. The children are in their 40s now .None of the three have ever had dental problems.

Dentists reckoned that as "war babies" we lacked vitamins and this was the result so it was dentures all round To protect our children we took them to the dentists to have the fluoride treatment to protect their teeth which seems to have worked. Have never forgotten sitting in the waiting room with tiny baby and asking the wife to the astonishment of others waiting if she would still be able to breast feed once the baby's dentures were fitted

My friend , a dental surgeon told me that. He said , people who were brought up in Derbyshire had tooth enamel that would withstand a sledge-hammer.
