GMB's resident doctor this morning pointed out that nearly all the coronavirus deaths are individuals over 80, some in their 70s and a few in their 60s. He advised all 80 year olds to stay indoors and let their younger neighbours get their shopping etc

Whether this kills old people is actually irrelevant, and that is not being flippant. Younger people can and have died. It is the number of people who fall ill and therefore fall out of the workforce that matters. The effect on general life will be enormous. I run a business and already we are experiencing delays in stuff coming in from China and Italy. I have had a meeting to discuss what we should do if someone here contracts the disease, who can work from home, whether we pay people and so on.
And silly little things. One of my grandsons was going skiing with his school at the end of March. That has been cancelled, so of course the hotel, the airline and any others will not get paid.
And since we are working with a lab near Oxford who are developing a vaccine it is a subject that I do know a little bit about. That vaccine is at least a year away.

There is some very conflicting data being churned out by the media , so NO ONE knows 'the facts'. I heard a WHO official say that no person under 20 years of age has or will catch it.

"Whether this kills old people is actually irrelevant"
It is very relevant to people of a certain age, an age that applies to a lot of us on here Your post suggests to me a certain element of "I'm alright Jack"

Children seem to be immune which is strange, you would think that immunity come with age Also odd is that there seem to be very few cases in India where they are packed in like sardines, does curry provide immunity?

"Whether this kills old people is actually irrelevant" It is very relevant to people of a certain age, an age that applies to a lot of us on here Your post suggests to me a certain element of "I'm alright Jack" I am not suggesting that for one second. What I am saying is the number of people killed, and it will probably be less than those killed by seasonal flu, is sadly only one factor. It is the number of people who are incapacitated which will make a difference to all our lives. Your neighbour for example dies. That is very sad but does not really effect you. But if you suddenly find you are not allowed to travel, go to a supermarket or obtain a pint of milk because the dairy is on shutdown that does effect you. And contrary to what has been said I am old - well past retirement age and pretty vulnerable having had a major heart attack not that long ago, so my comments here have absolutely nothing to do with 'I am alright Jack'

'Heartbroken'A&E doctor films crowd 'chanting "Covid is a hoax"' outside St Thomas's Hospital after he finished New Year's Eve shift in crisis-hit NHS
Perhaps the disease will wipe out a lot of these idiots and we'll have a more sensible planet!

About half a mile away from us, that was. No, I did not go.

These idiots are a joke, and remind me of when seat belts became mandatory there were people telling us they killed more people than they saved, because people drove faster!
