There is something about Ricky Gervais that makes my skin creep. I don't know what it is,but I can't bear to watch him.

Does anyone in their right mind find this man funny? I know he thinks he's funny but I don't. The Americans seem to go for anyone talentless person as long as they are from the UK. James Corden is another lacking humour and talent yet made millions on the other side of the pond.

He's good as a writer and actor, as in The Office and Extras. I'm not keen on his stand-up, what I've heard, but what do I know? One of the funniest things I've ever heard is Stewart Lee's Jesus/vomit bit.
I once heard Gervais, before he was famous, on GLR (London radio station), commenting on odd bits of news, and I though he was so awful that he must chosen a ridiculously false name so as to hide his real identity - I mean, who ever is called Gervais? (Except hairdressers in 70s sitcoms.)
The lyric he wrote about himself, or about the character he played, for Bowie to sing in Extras is good:
(Bowie wrote the music, and re-used a motif (at "Chubby little loser" for his single "Where are we Now?")
(Sorry, I've turned this into something about Bowie: though it is the 3rd anniversary of his death.)
What is funny though is all these right wingers suddenly realising they like a Labour supporter.
