What do they do for amusement, when you're not in the room?

We've had a lot of them this year.If they'd only keep their distance , they'd be OK but they will try to sit on you, yuk.

OH has a phobia of flies ever since he saw a programme about their dirty habits. Luckily,we haven't had any try to get into the house this year.

We have had a lot more than usual this year, we usually don't see any - supposedly because of the salt in the air We happen to have a Jack Russell dog who is terrified of them, we know one is either in the room or approaching as she will immediately disappear and hide

I very rarely have flies in my home but I do get the occasional wasp.
A corner of one window has become a fly graveyard. Sadly little hover flies get caught up in the spider's web. My outdoor spider seems to prefer eating the flies in situ and then dropping the remains. Spiders have got to eat after all.

I am like Polly I rarely get any flies. What I have had is rotten ants coming up the pipe in my bathroom over the sink and round the base of the toilet so I have doused them in white vinegar and put the Nippon blocks down. Fingers crossed the rotten things have gone into hibernation or dead. I cant stand the darn things.

Go to your hardware shop May.....They have little round plastic boxes containg ant killer. Open the tabs on the box and leave it where the ants frequent.I guarantee you'll not see a single ant after that.

The Nippon is the same sort of thing Arena. They seemed to have worked for me and I still squirt the white vinegar down my wash basin plug hole. This is an old remedy but still good. I can recall my own mother using it well over 80 years ago to keep the house free of not only ants but bugs too that used to hide behind picture frames and anywhere away from the daylight but would come out at night. No such thing then as Nippon or anything else that is on sale today.

No such thing then as Nippon or anything else that is on sale today. ANT-STOP: An Amazon customer's response Every year we are plagued with ants. We always have ant powder everywhere, it’s such a pain. The ants die, we get rid of the powder, the ants come back. We noticed some ants crawling around, not many but that is how it always starts, then they get more and more. A relative suggested these so we thought we would give them a go. We put one where the ants were running around and after 2 days we never saw another ant. We have used these in 2 other places since the first ones and on both occasions the ants vanished in 1-2 days. Brilliant things. I am going to make sure we always have these on hand ready for our next “visitors”. One thing to remember is not to squash any ants when you see them, even though it’s horrible to have them running around your home, as they take the bait back to the nest to kill the others in the nest and the Queen ant.

I put some down outside as well Arena where the ants seem to gather because the Nippon can also be used outside the home too.

I hadn't realised that we have seen no ants this year, must be because we use white vinegar to kill the weeds what grow in between the patio slabs where the ants live
