Along with many others Jimmy, a sad state of affairs.
I have to say we are more than happy to be back in the UK. We would have lost our medical card for sure and, oh boy, were they taxing us to the hilt.
Most of us (all of us) on here remember life in the 50s, 60s etc. The world has changed immeasurably since those days but blaming the EU is folly. Without the EU workers rights would not be where they are for a start. The UK out of the EU is quite scarey IMHO especially with a Tory Govt in charge. Pensions in the UK are already the lowest in Europe and will continue to tumble as they make workers toil longer to get their pittance. I am beginning to rant so I will leave people to think of all the other problems we 'might' face in years to come. I hope things get sorted out for you Jimmy.

I agree your circumstances are unique JImmy. I know a lot of people, ex pats in Spain are dead against Brexit. No, I don't usually respond to anything political or religious as we all have circumstances in our beliefs. No point in arguing because for one reason or another we have our opinions and sometimes they are best left to ourselves, specially as this and others like this are message boards for friends.

We'd have fished everything out by now were it not for UE rules. And we had some dispute with Iceland about fishing where we wanted. We don't rule the waves any more, and hadn't done a long time before the EU came along.
The EU never forced us to take immigrants: most came because they were invited to, and because we had had an empire which made them British subjects.
The running down of the NHS has nothing to do with the EU but is a deliberate Govt policy; but we wouldn't have it without immigrants..
Those thinking that by leaving the EU we will be able to fish the seas to extinction of fish forget what it was like before the EEC imposed controls, Cod Wars anybody?
It was people thinking they could fish anywhere they wanted, wasn't it?

1972 was a good year because of Ziggy Stardust though. 1972 was also the year of Bloody Sunday, Duke of Windsor dying, and the first gay pride march in London
One bad, one neutral (except to his family and friends), the third good; I think of 1972 generally as a good time, but I was only 13-14.

Theresa is having a conference call with her cabinet this afternoon - This is supposed to report on her discussions with other parties. I think the 'do as i say' will still be the mantra.
Is it arrogzance or stupidity? I believe she could be the PM who breaks up the UK - perhaps that is the legacy she craves.
I believe she has always been a 'brexiteer' and was forced into pretending otherwise by her boss of the time DC. Terrible times indeed.

Ok, she's taken herself off the Chequers for the weekend - hence the conference call which is hardly conducive to reaching any conclusion. Supposedly she is making a statement in the Commons tomorrow so needs to return to London, why not return today and call the cabinet in for a face to face chat The last PM to call each member of the cabinet to aske their opinion whether to stay or go was Mrs T, is Theresa doing the same

I really don't know what is going in on in Theresa's head at the moment. The latest I heard this morning is a 'rewriting' of The Good Friday Agreement. If that is the case does she realise how long it took and what hard work went into the agreement. It would seem she doesn't know or perhaps doesn't care just to keep Arlene on board!

I think it's just a desperate attempt to cling onto power Anyone else with decency in similar circumstances would have resigned ages ago
