She's stubbornly clinging to office, anybody else would have resigned last night She goes on and on about the will and democratic vote of the British people to leave but tries to promote a bill that does everything but. If I was her or her successor I would go to the EU and if that is again unacceptable tell them that we are leaving on March the whatever the date is, deal or no deal Watch them panic at the thought of losing that £39 billion

They won't give a toss; but they will know, and so will the rest of the world, that our word isn't worth anything.

Spot on Aubrey. Our credit rating would sink like a stone and that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Theresa May is stubborn of that we are sure. Allegedly she is now refusing to meet Jeremy Corbyn. So much for talks with senior politicians across the board! She has the DUP in her pocket re tonight's vote - not that they have confidence in her at all but she is happy to give them loads of dosh to keep them on board. I despair! I can't imagine where we are going to end up and that scares me.

Bit of a fainthearted view, what you're saying is that we can let anyone walk all over us I think the world knows the name of the game, and would admire us standing up for ourselves

If the debt is reneged on I can't see the rest of the world admiring the UK.

If the debt is reneged on I can't see the rest of the world admiring the UK. The world is not made up of trading nations, businesses, who all have something to sell and want to buy. Including former secretive closed societies like China. I don't think that any of them give a toss about the EU - America under Trump hates them, and they will all fall over themselves to do business with us How anyone can admire May and what she has done escapes me

I remember too well prior to us joining the then EEC European economic community . Before we were forced to go metric, before we had to contribute Billions into the pot of the EEC.before our trawlers
were limited to where and how far they could fish. Before migrants stormed into the UK simply because the EEC said we had to take them house them give them benefits.
Before all that, our country was thriving, jobs were easy to get, you could see a doctor without making an appointment, Police patrolled the streets, the NHS was staffed and no long waiting lists
to be seen. You could pick and choose which school to send your children to. One penny went on fuel, beer and cigarettes in each annual budget.
Everything changed when we entered into the EEC and has gone downhill ever since. The only way to redeem our island and independence is to come out, redeem world respect and not
be forced into rules and laws made in another country by foreign diplomats who couldn't care less about our heritage as long as they get the Billions they badly need to bail out the countries
who can't afford to contribute.

We joined the EEC in 1973 Do you really believe that we were better off before then?

Indeed we were Jimmy. Things were much easier then because we had our own rules and laws. Our trawlers could fish anywhere until they were limited by the EEC rules. We had free trade with the world with no limitations as to what and how much we could import and export. The EEC rules put an end to that, hopefully we will soon go back to free trading and be much better off once more. Mrs Thatcher would put the idiots in Brussels in their place if she was around today.

We'd have fished everything out by now were it not for UE rules. And we had some dispute with Iceland about fishing where we wanted. We don't rule the waves any more, and hadn't done a long time before the EU came along.
The EU never forced us to take immigrants: most came because they were invited to, and because we had had an empire which made them British subjects.
The running down of the NHS has nothing to do with the EU but is a deliberate Govt policy; but we wouldn't have it without immigrants..

1972 was a good year because of Ziggy Stardust though.

Those thinking that by leaving the EU we will be able to fish the seas to extinction of fish forget what it was like before the EEC imposed controls, Cod Wars anybody?

I don't agree but I am not going to argue with you I do have a vested interest, my OH is a Belgian national, and this whole business has made us unsettled. The requirement to obtain settled status here requires quite a high income and as my OH is my official carer paid the pittance of £64 per week carers allowance the income is insufficient. Work is out of the question as I need constant care. So if settled status is refused we will have to sell up and move to the EU which will incur health costs for me This is the practical result of Brexit, despite legally living here for 11 years and us being married we may e forced out
