Is it just me or has there been a huge increase of people with gluten intolerance? Almost everyone you meet seems to claim to be gluten intolerant. I think some people just want to be trendy.

I am intolerant of quite a few things (it's my age) but gluten isn't one of them!
I do think there are lote of trendy fads these days and they are, or could be, intolerable!
I had a child in my class many moons ago who had celiac (spelling?) disease - she coped very well with mum providing her lunch. When it came to Christmas parties mum provided the food for that as well. The girl knew what would make her ill so never tried to cheat IYKWIM.

People ( mostly women) are bombarded by the media about their health. Everything has been suggested as the magical diet, at some stage. They have added gluten to the cycle. A friend who suffers from gluten intolerance complained to me that the fad was making her necessary foods harder to find in the shops.
I wonder when gin will be the wonder 'food'.

Always has been.

You speak for yourself. Brandy is the eau de vie. The elixir of life. (Boswell) I sometimes think of getting Brandy, but always shy away: I'd imagine that good brandy, as with rum, is really very good, but that cheap brandy might not be as drinkable as cheap whisky (which can be pretty dam' decent).
