I've just got back from town and visited a supermarket - not our usual Leclerc's - and have to report that they have stopped supplying plastic gas for their fruit and veg and are now supplying brown papaer bags! I love it and I'm hopeful our usual supermarket will follow suit.
I am old enough to remember sugar in blue 'sugar paper' bags and brown paper bags for everything else.Good news don't you think?

We have a local small supermarket nearby, run by a very nice Chinese/Vietnamese couple. They did away with plastic bags over a year ago. Their paper bags have a degradable plastic panel, so they can see the contents. All good news.

I have wondered for a long time why we don't have brown paper sacks like they do in the US. Ocado did start sending fruit and veg in dinky paper carrier bags, but have gone back to plastic.

I agree about the brown paper sacks. I noticed when I was in Dublin last year that most of the shops seem to give you brown paper carrier bags. I think this started when they brought in a charge for plastic carriers.
There was a lot of good things in the past that are coming back!
