I've had a load of washing on the line this morning and it's dried lovely. Just finished all the ironing. Time for a rest watching the cricket and football this afternoon.

It's been a bit dull and cloudy here, but DRY! It's windy though and I got my washing dry, even though I was watching for rain most of the day. I was on the alert to run out and bring the washing in before it got soaked, but the rain did hold off. I think it's coming back tonight. I have been listening to a second book by Jeffrey Archer. I am surprised by what a good writer he is. He gives plenty of detail to his plots and characters which bring them to life. Also, I love a twist at the end of a story, which he is good at providing. It's a shame he couldn't have been content as a writer and felt he had to bolster his ego in other ways.

Morning all: Another bank holiday weekend and yet another miserable wet day. Not budging today, just got meals to prepare and some washing to do.

I dialed 111 yesterday and ended up in our packed A&E unit for six + hours, my BP was a tad over 200, after various procedures and checks I got back home at about 2 am this morning feeling no better than I did when I went in. So I will now have to wait for a doctor's appointment and probably have a good wait as my doctors practice is closed until Tuesday then I will be in another queue?

Oh Riki, how awful. Please rest and drink plenty to help your BP go down. Having to wait anxiously won't help it, I'm sure. My sister worked for the NHS before she died aged 46. She warned me all those years ago (1974) that the NHS was going to Hell in a basket. She advised me to get any health issues sorted at the time. The NHS is still limping along and many are suffering as a consequence. Too few are putting money into the pot and too many are taking it out. It's just not viable any more. Do you have any doctors on emergency callout, Riki? We have one doctor permanently on out of hours call. He/she has to cover a huge callout area, so it takes ages for them to come - but it is something.
Today is cloudy and 14 degrees. Rain is coming soon.

I agree with all Althea says, I saw what was happening and the last few years working as a nurse. More management than actual workers. One thing the government never took into account was when they opened the gates to immigrants they didn't increase the infrastructure to cope. We didn't have enough doctors, nurses or beds for the amount we were getting in on a daily basis. Nothing's changed either. Certainly Riki, If you feel any worse ring 111 and explain it's an emergency.

Is this too subtle for the UK parliament?

Did you know the actor Yul Brynner was a life long Liverpool fan and never wore aftershave in his life? That's right. Yul never wore cologne. Oops! wrong thread.!

I watched a programme called ‘Better off Dead’ on telly last night with brilliant actress and disability campaigner Liz Carr where she was railing, along with others with disabilities, against the proposed law for Assisted Dying. It was excellent!!! Lord save us from such legislation. We are going to Spain for 10 days tomorrow (with the car, Portsmouth to Santander) and our first stop is Cangas del Narcea where we will stay in a paradore which was a monastery…it still has a chapel! We will enjoy a leisurely tour back along the Asturian and Cantabrian coasts (where I note it is absolutely bucketing down ☔) I didn't see the programme you mention but I, for one, am disappointed that the election announcement has put the kybosh on debate in the Commons, for now. I'm for having a choice about how and when, when the time comes. It would ease my present concerns about what's coming to know that I will enjoy some control over the matter. Presently, I have almost none.
Edit:
Oops, I didn't realiise that I was so late to the debate. The "Manor Lords" game has finally arrived for the PC and I've been completely engrossed by it. The program is a crowd-funded project by a single individual who has been working on it for the past seven years. I thought I could code a bit but this guy is something else!

Rain the night before last but lovely all day, we even opened up the beach hut and sat on the beach for an hour or so. We also trimmed the hedge which belongs to next door but encroaches into our garden. Today I’ve been gardening, it is quite windy but sheltered where I was planting some wallflowers and sweet William I’ve grown from seed.
totally up to date with washing and ironing (for now 🙄).

Lucky Toots, it's turned sunny now here but wasn't too nice early on. To anyone who doesn't already know, Dunelm has a sale with 50% off everything. We went this morning and I bought a mattress protector, a new duvet set and a few other little things. Saved almost £50.
