MrN and I have frequented the cinema of late, helped by the code on Monday’s allowing 1/2 price tickets.
The Darkest Hour which was brilliant with amazing acting from Gary Oldman.
I can also recommend Martin McDonagh’s new film ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’, be warned though, the language is very ripe and the humour is black along with superb acting.
This Monday we are off to see The Post, has anyone seen it?

Prefer to watch films at home in comfort, have a very good cinema surround sound system

I did not enjoy The Darkest Hour.Gary Oldman, was indeed, superb as Churchill. I got bored half way through as I knew the ending. Last night I watched Three Billboards. It is not a feel good type of film, but I did enjoy it. Woody Harrelson surprised me by giving an excellent performance. I never rated him much before this. Considering the whole story is fraught with misery,I felt engaged right to the end. I would have liked a better ending, but then, I may be being too critical. I definitely think it is bound to win much acclaim.

Upon winning the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in the film, Frances McDormand became the first actress to win two awards in the category; she had previously won her first award in the category in 1997 for Fargo (1996). Last night we watched Still Alice , a very good film about a woman who contracts Alzheimer's. The film stars Julianne Moore, who gives a brilliant performance as the victim. www.imdb.com/title/tt3316960/?ref_=nv_sr_1

I downloaded La La Land as it is supposed to be an award winning movie. I got fed up with it, poor story and acting.

I've just watched the new Murder on the Orient express film. It is dire, even with Kenneth Brannagh playing Poirot and many big name starts in it, it is very poor.

I couldn't watch that either,Ron. Kenneth Allbran was in virtually every scene and overacted with a vengeance. Also,I do hate it when they mess around with Agatha Christie's stories. They do it with the TV series too. They put Miss Marple in stories that the she is not in, in the books.
