I've taken the last of the apples from the orchard today and made one apple pie and two apple crumbles. Time to prune now and wait for another crop next year. Ours are still quite small and not ready for picking

Fine. But I think I have a cold, at least a sore throat (which might be from the dust yesterday).

Seems to be the calm after the storm today, a temporary reprieve as more rain is forecast this afternoon

My car was covered in sand this morning. I took a bucket of water out just to clean the windows and the water was almost black. This afternoon I am topping and tailing 3 kilos of pickling onions. Sob sob!!!!

Sob sob!!!! You cannot beat home made pickled onions, bought ones are pretty tasteless. Mother used to put something in with them, little things, but I have no idea what they were

I just put a small amount of sugar in each jar. You can put some wine in if you liked the taste but I have never done that. Bottled 10 jars this morning do they will be ready in a few weeks.

I am dreaming of Christmas Day at your place, tea being a plate of cold turkey and other meats - side salad - and your pickled onions
