What is a Cat?
Gentle eyes that see so much, paws that have the quiet touch.
Purrs to signal "all is well" and show more love than words can tell.
Graceful movements touched with pride, a calming presence by our side.
A friendship that will last and grow - small wonder why we love them so.

The Cat Aubrey
A panegyric.
He's cute! He's cute! He's got a furry suit! (Cute, cute, he's got a furry suit); Strawberry ears, Caramel eyes; Cod-flake belly, Chicken-leg thighs; He's also something of a ....

Just uncovered this, which I wrote when our old Siamese (Sam of Siam) disappeared. We think he was had by a buzzard...
Where wandered then that spirit What hand stilled that well-loved heart Why did it end so cruelly We were not due to part.

I lie belly-up In the sunshine, happier than You ever will be.
Today I sniffed Many dog butts—I celebrate By kissing your face.
I sound the alarm! Paperboy—come to kill us all — Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!
I sound the alarm! Garbage man—come to kill us all — Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!
I lift my leg and Whiz on each bush. Hello, Spot— Sniff this and weep.
I Hate my choke chain— Look, world, they strangle me! Ack Ack Ack Ack Ack Ack!
Sleeping here, my chin On your foot—no greater bliss—well, Maybe catching cats.
Look in my eyes and Deny it. No human could Love you as much as I do.

I shall walk in the sun alone Whose golden light you loved: I shall sleep alone And, stirring, touch an empty place: I shall write uninterrupted (Would that your gentle paw Could stay my moving pen just once again!).
I shall see beauty But none to match your living grace: I shall hear music But not so sweet as the droning song With which you loved me.
I shall fill my days But I shall not, cannot forget: Sleep soft, dear friend, For while I live you shall not die.
