I have just spent half an hour cleaning my oven. it was only done about a month ago.
The oven itself is easy to clean but the racks are terrible.
If we have the technology to explore space why can't the boffins create non stick oven racks,

If we have the technology to explore space why can't the boffins create non stick oven racks, I tend to just leave mine in the bottom of the dishwasher trays and they come out clean next time I use the oven, which is not every day.

Same here - dishwasher sparkle! A while ago I bought a roll of black oven liner material which, cut to size, leaves both lower surfaces pristine...I just wash those in the sink. The glass doors get dirtiest - I clean those with Fairy (soak first) and a stainless steel scourer and the outside surfaces with Fairy and a bijt of soda. I had a cold call yesterday, asking if I want my oven cleaned! Don't people do this sort of thing any more? D'you know who will have the cleanest oven on here? I do...

There are no such things as non cleaning ovens, no such thing as self defrosting freezers, no such things as non yellowing paints. I clean the inside of my oven monthly with Oven cleaner, the racks I clean with Brillo pads. Once a month keeps on tops of it and though I've had my cooker for about 5 years it looks brand new inside and out.

I wipe out my ovens (2) every time I have used them. It's so easy if you don't let the muck build up. Now and again I scrub the racks even though they don't really need it. I am one of those "clean up as you go" cooks, so the kitchen never looks like a battlefield after a meal.

Exactly like me Althea. I clean the hob and the inside after every use. I hate to some kitchens with grime all over the oven.

^^^ Ron, I had you in the number one spot for clean ovens - I wasn't expecting a challenge from Althea 😄 Two sparklers!

Great minds think alike eh? I have a deep fat fryer that I clean out and change the oil every few weeks. Though to be honest I rarely use it. Just now and then I fancy plain egg n chips so it comes in handy.
