Just take sensible precautions as one would when flu or colds are about, and ignore the panicdemic A lot of people are making a lot of money out of this hysteria If you're going to catch it there's nothing you can do, and if you are elderly or weak you may be in trouble I agree, sensible precautions. I don't know who is making money out of it. People selling woo-woo stuff on e-bay maybe.

There are advertising tweets on Twitter selling masks and sanitiser and the like. I've not clicked on them so I don't know if they're gouging or what; but they advertise like sex workers: using keywords of trending topics to get some attention:
This does go to Amazon, but it is a dust mask for cyclists. £6 each, it looks like.

I'm on standby as a retired nurse, the hospital I worked in already have nurses off with winter flu and norovirus. At present it's difficult to tell the difference between Coronavirus and winter flu, many of the symptoms are identical. Only time will tell if this will escalate or abate.

Do you have to attend Ron or is it voluntary?

Voluntary Jimmy. They have asked for all retired nurses to ring in if they are fit and available. I've had all the jabs needed but of course it's no guarantee I wouldn't get flu. Hopefully it won't come to that but I think they are right to make plans in case it escalates. No point in having a hospital with no doctors and no nurses. My wife is a retired nurse too but she's in no shape to help out.

Are people going mad over there as they are here in Oz: specifically bulk-buying toilet paper (also tissues, hand sanitiser, tinned food, pasta and rice)? There's no toilet paper left in Melbourne! It started a couple of weeks ago as panic-buying, but now there are more and more reports of fights over bogroll in supermarkets, and toilet paper being flogged off at vastly inflated prices online and from people's garages and pop-up shops. How quickly the veneer of civilisation disappears and humans turn back into savages. It's quite frightening.

There was panic buying and stockpiling last weekend which emptied shelves of toilet paper and paracetamol tablets but the supermarkets have restocked the toilet paper. Seems to be a problem with the tablets though, I think I read they come from India so there may be a production problem A sure bet if the government advises not to stockpile, we will !!

I was speaking to the manager of Wilko's this morning and he told me that they were very low on batteries. They are made in China and can't see when they will be able to stock up in the near future. I will need some AA and AAA batteries soon so might start looking around for somewhere that's still stocking them.

I want to get rid of trivial expressions like:
'It doesn't get any better than this' and misuses ,like ' unique' and 'literally'
New language is inevitable but bad language....no.

I would put all double wrapped, hermetically sealed items into Room 101. I have to wait for my daughter to come and open stuff.

In France such items make it worse by marking them 'Overture facile'.......simply opened!
