Someone not a million miles from here called me 'lassie' yesterday - yes Arena it's you! It's years since I was called that and I loved it!
There are so many 'local' terms - let's here some of them!
'Hen' was very common in Scotland.
When we lived in Beds a 'little old boy' was a young lad - always found that funny.
I don't object to being called most things ' me duck'!

Well Lassie, if you came from the Highlands ,you would be called a 'quine' (olde English for queen)

My mother in law used to call me quine. I hate to be called babe, babes, or baby! It makes my blood boil

I used to work with a woman who called everyone 'flower'. I liked that, but I too hate 'babe', it just seems very patronising to me.

A tradesman once called Mrs A, babe. He lost his firm a fat contract! ;D

I'm lost again - what's the big deal here? 'Babe','Love','Chuck','Hen' - why the po-faced reactions? The only time I rose to such a bait was when a female told me that, being a man, like all men, I was a 'rapist' - other than that I don't care what anybody calls me!
In Cornwall, hairy-arsed lorry drivers would address me as 'my lover', or 'my bird'...
