What we thinking about the second outing for the moody, miserable and selfish Mr R Poldark!
Adoring the scenery, wonder how many times those horses have to gallop along those cliff edges. I know it's a sad tale but everyone is a tad over grim this series. We break it up at home by interrupting with chants of "Jaaass" a la Jamaica Inn when it gets a little too serious for itself.

I have to confess, I gave up on it after the second episode. However, each time I see the trailer when he looks over his shoulder, I regret it!!!!
There was a great piece a while back about him in the Guardian, just before it started... Did you know he was Irish Junior Latin American champion!!! Now there's a few moves I'd like to see 😄
He is quite self-effacing and gets a bit annoyed that his acting gets no comment, only getting his shirt off!

I find it all a bit boring and predictable, every week the similar story lines of the Warelggens trying to ruin him and the dramatic "will he survive" theme

The trials of being a good looking actor! Although I recall Thora Hird being asked if she hadn't wished to ever play the leading lady or femme fatale type roles and she laughed and said she always knew she looked ordinary, but looking ordinary and not being worried about looking old had kept her more than amply employed in character roles, minor parts and dramas for over 50 years and many of the young starlets who started out with her had got no further than a couple of B movies and a husband!!

How true...she was a legend, accent and all. A propos of nothing, it's the anniversary of The Battle of Hastings which I mention just in case you live there or have another connection 😄

There are quite a few actresses who fit that sort of description. Sue Johnson, Eileen Atkins, Stephanie Cole, Jean Alexander, Sheila Reid, Judi Dench, Brenda Blethyn, Joan Plowright, Imelda Staunton, Miriam Margolyes, Vanessa Redgrave, Penelope Wilton, Judy Parfitt, Pam Ferris to name just a few

I regularly plough through turgid theses on the state of the economy pre- post conquest etc. just to find another nugget of a fact. Thank you for noticing though.

My mum once told me I would be a wallflower if I went out because no amount of make up would make me as attractive as my sisters. She said I should just accept it and learn to cook and look after the house. Ha, ha - I told her that there were more ordinary looking people in the world than beautiful ones and we kind of had a way of finding each other and she shouldn't worry on my part I was quite happy being normal. Doesn't do you any harm does it?!
