Moses's 11th tablet: ...Arrival at immunity from all age, all fear and all end... Why do I pretend? Our essence is distilled and all familiar taste is now drained and though purity is maintained it leaves us sterile, living through the millions of years, a laugh as close as any tear... Living, if you claim that all that entails is breathing, eating, defecating, screwing, drinking, spewing, sleeping, sinking ever down and down and ultimately passing away time which no longer has any meaning...

Featuring a kind of sequel to the song "Refugees": "Easy to slip away", about how he has lost touch with Mike and Susie: Susie, I guess you're on your way to be a star, But I don't know where you are, the only time I seem To see you is on T.V. It's so easy just to slip away...
A version from 1995, live in Moscow:

This one always gives me a shiver. You have to listen to it properly though.

This: The Fall at (one of) peak(s) live in Iceland: recorded in 1983, released in 2001, unnoticed by me at the time (there were a lot of live Fall recordings released at about the same time, one of them recorded by me and my brother on an old cassette player). It's a revelation though:

Thanks to the Obit post "Happy Day" is going round and round in my head Yes, me too now you sod. You might enjoy this: O Happy Day (1970) aka Seventeen and Anxious, in which the song is used a good deal (I think Edwin Hawkins's version; it sounds like it). "Zbynek Brynych's forgotten masterpiece "Oh Happy Day" is best described as coming-of-age-psychedelia." Also features "...footage of a football match Bayern Munich vs. Alemannia Aachen, with glimpses of Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller." It's a sweet film. The poster is misleading; it is actually pretty light on the nudity, etc:

Reminds me of a photographer friend who had quadrophonic sound in his front room with a chair exactly central to the 4 speakers. He suggested that I try his Pink Floyd album in this seat which though sounding brilliant was not enjoyable to sit in this uncomfortable position. He suggested smoking a joint to complete the experience but I declined

I'd avoid Pink Floyd anyway; I really can't listen to their later stuff (about 1971 onwards) and I did try a bit back and gave up. I have a nephew - in his 20s - who really likes them though. We don't understand it.
I like German films from the 70s (I tend to like films from the 70s anyway). There's a nice ambience about them, something in the texture of the film and the voices of the people, the use of zoom, the way they're edited. This film is nice, good-natured and sweet. Dorothea's Revenge - Dorothea's Rache - from the same period is better though
