Agreed, but it is a recognised shortcut which most people understand. I don't quite know how they would differentiate them from just good old cold blooded pre-meditated murder.

Surely it can't be beyond the wit of all the people who work at the BBC (other outlets are available) to come up with something suitable. They get themselves off the hook by saying 'so called honour killings' I don't see that we have to differentiate between murders..a murder is a murder regardless of the reason. This has just been reported on on the 6 O'Clock News and Reeta Chakrabati said " Her husband believes she was killed because her family disapproved of her marriage" No mention of 'honour killing' Perhaps my tweets to the BBC have worked!
