Parliament is to discuss and vote today on renewing Trident at a cost of many billions of pounds IMO this is a waste, the greatest threat to our security comes from some back street in the UK, or Syria/Iraq, from any crazy jihadist I cannot see that any nuclear submarine is likely to deter them

As we had WMDs of our own, did we need to invade Iraq? Just saying...

What is the point of spending billions on a nuclear weapon we cannot use (well, would YOU push the button?) when we aren't funding conventional weapons which we've had to deploy countless times.
Was listening to Fallon this morning being quesioned about Trident being based in Scotland...so what happens of Scotland votes to leave the UK...oh, that will never happen!!

The SNP are opposed to renewing Trident, let them spell out to Scottish workers what it would mean for them if Trident's base is moved to Devonport

Their leader in the House of Commons seems to be the least gracious person to appear their - even worse than Dennis Skinner He refused to wish Cameron well at hos farewell appearance, just made nasty comments

We tend to thing of nuclear weapons as an apocalyptic weapon - the world about to disintegrate should one be used. But there is a threat of "dirty weapons" and a threat of rogue states trying to acquire a nuclear arsenal. It's a very blunt tool, but Trident is a symbol of deterrence. An expensive one, I know, but possibly effective just for being there. I don't have a simple answer. I'm just glad that it is someone else's decision at the end of the day. (And, come to think of it, it may very well be.)
