After so many years and legal challenges it will finally be published tomorrow I have the feeling that whatever it says it will not silence Tony Blair's critics who are out to get him one way or another Parents and relatives of those who were lost are already all over the TV expressing anger over their loved one's death Nobody ever seems to ask them why their relative joined up in the first place, did they think that being a soldier was like joining some boys club

Just listened to a summary of the report...which told us nothing we did not already know.
I so clearly recall stopping my car and pulling over for the interruption of a programme for the report of findings from Hans Blix (UN weapons inspector)...he said he could find no evidence of WMD whatever...less than a month later we went to war, the dodgy dossier having been produced from... wherever....
We took part in the Stop the War march for which we were criticised and vilified among friends and work colleagues as being unpatriotic and not supporting our boys...
I am firmly of the opinion that Blair had made a pledge to Bush (that lovely special relationship) that he couldn't get out of. Grrrrrr
I hear the Intelligence Services are to be heavily criticised....just when we need so much faith in them.

Nobody ever seems to ask them why their relative joined up in the first place, did they think that being a soldier was like joining some boys club I really object to your statement Gus. I seriously doubt any person who joins up for the armed forces in recent times thinks it's going to be a jolly time. These families have had they're sons and daughters killed in an illegal war and in a war that left those soldiers woefully ill equipped for the task at hand. We should be proud of our armed forces who are being sent by men and women of the government of the time, and the least we should expect is that those soldiers who are doing their job are treated with respect. Those soldiers are also intitled to be equipped with enough ammunition, in fit for purpose vehicles, and wearing a suitable uniform with helmets and boots for the terrain which sadly they weren't. Some boys club!

Some boys club! Sorry if you don't like my "why did they join up in the first place" comment. No matter how well equipped an army is, people still get killed. It's the risk of the job BTW I don't suppose your "illegal war" stands up to scrutiny, the UN endorsed the action and made it legit. This is all part and parcel of the "Blair is a liar", etc from hoe enemies I write as one who joined the anti war march in London, and abhors any fighting/war. But I appreciate that in this world there are those who need to be dealt with, seems to have always been so when you look at the young victims of WW1 and WW2 - the Somme etc The Iraq war would never have happened if George Bush Snr hadn't stopped after removing Sadam Hussein from Kuwait, he should have continued into Iraq and taken out this despot, possible the most evil man the world has ever seen

That I would most certainly dispute Gus. Pol Pot? Idi Amin? McGabe? Kim Jung Ill? The list is endless, but Bush had the bit between his teeth on Iraq.
Yes Saddam Hussein was an evil tyrant, but we the west have no right to impose our standards on countries we don't like, or tyrants in other parts of the world.

Of course the people who join the armed services know there is a chance they will be killed in the line of duty. However any employer should have a duty of care to their employees ensuring they have the correct equipment required for the job. It is that along with the deaths caused through being ill equipped that has parents up in arms, also was it a ratified or a just war? Chilcot stops short of saying it wasn't, but I and many others don't think it was. It is the callous way you disregard the feelings of those injured and families of those killed that I'm objecting about.

I believe the term Iraq War is a misnoma..it was an invasion.
Saddam Hussein was not an aggressor at that time, as was the case in the previous conflict with Kuwait. The WMD capability was never proven and the dossier content never investigated but by that time it was seized upon as the green light and forward momentum was in full throttle.
People are baying now for Blair's blood. Bush and his role never even gets a mention...
The death of our soldiers is but a part of an immense tragedy: civilian losses, the destabilising of that country and the unleashing of Isis to further escalate international terrorism. Blair says 'sorry'.

Just reflecting upon Gus' comment that Saddam Hussein is the most evil man the world has ever seen.. Debatable....
On the news last night, they spoke to the Iraqi man who was filmed back then toppling that statue...he said, yes, Saddam WAS evil but he was only one...now we have thousands of Saddams! Chilling...
