When oh when will the Yanks realise that they need to do something about their liberal gun laws, and stand up to the powerful gun lobby The killer was an Afghanistan, presumably a Muslim, we haven't yet heard from Trump who is bound to exploit this situation

I agree, something needs to be done. Who the hell needs an assault rifle? And you can buy a recoilless 50mm canon. What is that for, deer hunting?

It could not have happened at a worse time. Conspiracy theorists might say Trump 'engineered' it.

Probably not, but he is sickenly trying to make some sort of political capitol out of it from what I saw lunchtime. And of course he is a staunch defender of the NRA. Heard it 1000 times 'guns don't kill people, people kill people'

Never mind that US security knew he was a risk, but could still go into a shop to buy an uzi, no questions asked. Dreadful massacre. If Clinton dares mention tightening gun laws, she can kiss her election goodbye.

Even if Clinton could push it through in her first term how many years would it take for the US to be relatively gun free? I used to shoot and one guy regularly turned up with an antique muzzle loading shotgun! (They banned him in the end as it took too long for him to load)

Trump in power doesn't bear thinking of. My cousin has friends who live in the US,up near the border with Canada. They have said they will definitely move to Canada if Trump is elected.

Turns out the gunman had used gay dating sites and had regularly visited the club. Repression and inner conflict?

Every time one of these atrocities occurs, their politicians always trot out the 'thoughts and prayers' cliche yet do nothing to change their gun laws, clinging instead to their right to bear arms. It baffles me.
