Dame Alicia Markova, DBE, DMus, (1 December 1910 – 2 December 2004) was an English ballerina and a choreographer, director and teacher of classical ballet. Most noted for her career with Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes and touring internationally, she was widely considered to be one of the greatest classical ballet dancers of the 20th century. Markova was born as Lilian Alicia Marks on 1 December 1910. Her father, Alfred, was Jewish by birth; her mother, Eileen, converted to Judaism. The family lived in a two bedroom flat in Finsbury Park.

Bette Midler born December 1, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, comedian, and film producer.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Midler began her professional career in several Off-Off-Broadway plays, prior to her engagements in Fiddler on the Roof and Salvation on Broadway in the late 1960s. She came to prominence in 1970 when she began singing in the Continental Baths, a local gay bathhouse where she managed to build up a core following.
Since 1970, Midler has released 14 studio albums as a solo artist. Throughout her career, many of her songs became hits on the record charts, including her renditions of "The Rose", "Wind Beneath My Wings", "Do You Want to Dance", "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", and "From a Distance". In 2008, she signed a contract with Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to perform a show titled Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On, which ended in 2010.

Do you remember........ Susan Stranks (born 2 December 1938) is a British actress, television presenter and producer. Born in London, Stranks was ten years old when she played the role of the younger Emmeline Foster in the 1949 romantic adventure film The Blue Lagoon. In 1959, Stranks played a small part as a schoolgirl in the train scenes of The 39 Steps starring Kenneth More.Born in London, Stranks was ten years old when she played the role of the younger Emmeline Foster in the romantic adventure film The Blue Lagoon (1949). The following year she played Janet Smith, the young sister of Ann Todd, in the David Lean film Madeleine. She then appeared as a regular panelist on the TV pop music show Juke Box Jury as well as Emergency - Ward 10 but she is best known for the children's TV series Magpie, which she co-presented from 1968 to 1974. Following Magpie, Stranks devised and presented a programme for pre-school children, named Paperplay, which ran until 1981. In recent years Stranks has become a children's radio campaigner, helping to create Fun Radio, a station aimed at children aged under 10 years old.She wa married to Robin Ray.

I thought it must have been someone different when I saw a Susan Stranks in The Blue Lagoon - that was an old film, and I remembered her being not that much older on Magpie. But no, all the same person.

Brendan Coyle (born David Coyle; 2 December 1962) is a British actor. He won the Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role for The Weir in 1999. He also played Nicholas Higgins in the miniseries North & South, Robert Timmins in the first three series of Lark Rise to Candleford, and more recently Mr Bates, the valet, in Downton Abbey, which earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor He was in my class at Kettering Grammar School.

James Arthur Thomas Jewel. Marsh, known as Jimmy Jewel, (4 December 1909 – 3 December 1995) was a British television and film actor. The son of a comedian and actor who also used the stage name Jimmy Jewel, the youngster made his stage debut in Robinson Crusoe in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, at the age of four, performed with his father from the age of 10 . Jewel was married to Belle Bluett with whom he had a son and an adopted daughter. In 1985 He won a Variety Club of Great Britain Special Award. Jewel died on 3 December 1995, the day before his 86th birthday, and was cremated and interred at the Golders Green Crematorium, in London.

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne (born 3 December 1948), also known as The Prince of Darkness, is an English vocalist, songwriter, actor and reality television star who rose to prominence during the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath. He left the band in 1979 and went on to have a successful solo career, releasing eleven studio albums, the first seven of which were all awarded multi-platinum certifications in the United States. Osbourne has since reunited with Black Sabbath on several occasions, recording the album 13 (2013). His longevity and success have earned him the informal title of "Godfather of Heavy Metal".

My uncle Anthony had a load of old copies at his mother's house. I never realised - how could I? - how camp it was. Viz have an artist who does some good parodies of the style - the turned-up toes and straight (or ridiculously bendy) legs.

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards was born on December 5, 1963 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England as Michael Edwards. He is a skier and actor, known for Operation Eagle (2018), ITV Telethon (1988) and The Friday Night Project (2005). He has been married to Samantha Morton since June 2003.

Walter Elias Disney December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. A pioneer of the American animation industry, he introduced several developments in the production of cartoons. As a film producer, Disney holds the record for most Academy Awards earned by an individual, having won 22 Oscars from 59 nominations. He was presented with two Golden Globe Special Achievement Awards and an Emmy Award, among other honors. Several of his films are included in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Jack Ashley, Baron Ashley of Stoke, CH PC (6 December 1922 – 20 April 2012) was a British politician. He was a Labour Member of Parliament in the House of Commons for Stoke-on-Trent South for 26 years, from 1966 to 1992, and subsequently sat in the House of Lords. He was a long-time campaigner for disabled people. Ashley was born in Widnes and educated at Warrington Road School.He was deaf.

Edmundo William Ros OBE (7 December 1910 – 21 October 2011) was a Trinidadian musician, vocalist, arranger and bandleader who made his career in Britain. He directed a highly popular Latin American orchestra, had an extensive recording career and owned one of London's leading nightclubs. Ros was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad. His mother was an Afro-Venezuelan and his father was of Scottish descent.
