I hadn't come across one for sometime, but this morning on the phone to a dental practice near me I was spoken to by a most ferocious and sarcastic one! Having researched online and looked at the photos of who would be ( or not in this case) poking about inside my mouth, read about how marvellous they all are, how they adhere to the highest of standards taking the latest courses that apply to their profession, I've a mind to email and complain. I came off the phone annoyed and felt humiliated.
Are there courses in phone manner? How to speak to people with a civil tongue? Am I just old fashioned?

I take it you will not be letting her dentist poke about in your mouth. Perhaps a personal note to him/her ,explaining why!

Facebook pages relating to our village and its neighbours have been full of us v them discussions on the one receptionist at the local Med Centre who fits the description here. Those of us who have never fallen foul of her are amazed at the reactions of patients, while those who have are ready to march with torches and agricultural implements to counter this evil manifestation!
Investigation is under way, apparently...

I think I might Arena, I'm not one for complaining or writing letters, but on this occasion I will. The tone she used along with the sarcasm heavily dripping through her voice was disgraceful. I have a cracked tooth that happened on Christmas Day, when I enquired about treatment for it I somehow was supposed to know that they weren't taking new clients till March, and that was of course was private patients too, and had I heard of the dental hospital where I could seek treatment!
Nowhere on their site did it say no new clients till March whether they are NHS or private ( I haven't been able to find a NHS dentist for years!) nor did it say that they're fancy courses weren't good enough to fix a cracked tooth!
I assume it was her first day back at work and that Santa had not been kind to her......no bloody wonder.

Don't hesitate N. Write that letter - and mark it 'personal'.

I made an appointment to see my solicitor a couple of days ago. The receptionist asked me what it was about and got quite crabby when I told her it was a private matter. I don't know her, don't know how discreet she is but I have known my solicitor for over 30 years.
I suppose I could have said that I had reason to believe her husband had been shagging my wife and I needed some legal advice, but I desisted. I will keep that one in the bank....
