I run a business and am constantly being harassed by petty little officials. I wont bore you all with detail, but suffice to say we have never had an accident and have a totally clean record.
This morning some butch woman turned up unannounced. She wanted to look at the PAT test certificates for all our portable gear.
It is a horrible morning so two of us who smoke (I smoke a pipe) were in the box trailer parked (secured to the building with Fort Knox type locks) outside. Just open the small door and stand in out of the rain.
Oh no no no, you can't do that! It is a company vehicle and you are not allowed to smoke in a company vehicle!!
She has gone, and when it stops raining we might well have a quick drag outside. Until then the personal door on the trailer is open!

Jimshoo.
When the smoking ban in the workplace first came in I thought that although it was tough, I would comply.
As MD my office was at the time away from the coal face, and I did not share it.
On the very first day at 10 am council officials arrived, to check we had the right signs. Thoughtfully my works manager and secretary kept him away from me otherwise I am sure he would at the very least have been murdered.
We did have the right signs, and I then found signs in Welsh, Gaelic and other languages and plastered them all over the factory entrance door. I also found many other signs, including one depicting 'No Fornication'
And after that, until I moved into the main office block it was business as usual, the only difference being the ashtray was in the drawer!
