Perhaps you can encourage more Angel listeners to join us! I certainly hope we will get some more Angel listeners - and presenters for that matter - joining us. I explained twice during the programme how to find the forum from the Angel Radio home page and I'll probably mention it again in the coming weeks so, hopefully, a few more will find their way here. TJ Oh, and no, the Breakfast Bustle programmes are not repeated. Don't tell me you missed it?

A shame your station isn't a bit closer - I've always enjoyed radio. Back in the 50s we ran a short-wave broadcasting station in Cyprus on the camp at Episkopi, and later for a while I did Monday afternoons on a three hospital network in East London, Short wave was fun because you never knew how far away you could be heard... our transmitter was the kind you see in Lancaster bombers! One of these...

Whatcha mean 'closer'? I can get it in France ;D

This forum will be good for Angel listeners, who will be able to meet and discuss Angel Radio and any subjects they have in common

I meant the studio location! By Internet the reception range must be world-wide...

Well, if you were thinking of doing some programmes for Angel - and your professional background should give you some useful insights - distance from the studio isn't necessarily a problem. Although I only live 10 minutes from the studios I do all my pre-recorded programmes at home.
I record them in what Mrs TJ mistakenly thinks is her dining room but I know is actually my recording studio. I then edit them on my computer and upload them to the studio via "the Cloud" (DropBox). If you have a reasonable mic, a decent record collection and some sound editing software, distance is no object. I can think of 2 other regular presenters who work from home and we even get some occasional programmes from a couple of ex-pats now living in California.
You're right when you say our coverage is worldwide. We'vea number of regular listeners in the US and even the Antipodes. A little while ago I got a commission from a New Zealand radio station to do a programme about New Zealanders in the air force at Tangmere during the second world war. It was broadcast in NZ on ANZAC Day and also in this country by Angel - I was delighted to receive an email about it from someone living in New Zealand's West Island who'd heard it on the Internet!

A Short wave was fun because you never knew how far away you could be heard... our transmitter was the kind you see in Lancaster bombers! One of these... Ah, yes, the ubiquitous T1154. We've got one of those and the associated 1155 receiver in our Bomber Command display at Tangmere as you can see in the main photo on this page: www.tangmere-museum.org.uk/what-to-see/tangmere-hall. I think the availability of Internet radio has made long-distance short-wave listening redundant but it's not half as much fun as trying to bring in that distant voice through all the crackles and pops. There was an occasion where we picked up the Tower at Farnborough, who were trying to contact a vehicle out on the airfield - so we called him up and told him to get in touch with the Tower! We had a couple of AR88 receivers for relaying what was then the General Overseas Service of the BBC (a bugger to announce) I often used to listen to SABC from Johannesburg...

Smashing! Several times over the years I seriously thought about getting my Amateur Radio licence but, somehow just never got around to it.
