While we continue our domestic squabble over Brexit, there's a far more worrying situation with Russia...power has shifted considerably in recent times with both Russia and China with greater capability than ever. Russia has moved several nuclear missiles to Kaliningrad, close to the Polish border and here we have Boris, opening his mouth first and thinking second, saying we should demonstrate outside the embassy because of 'war crimes' in Syria (proof?) I don't think Putin needs any persuading to flex the Russian muscle. In fact, I don't think it would bother him at all! Worrying times.

And all at a time when the UK have decided on an isolationist path

I put this on another board and got abuse. Someone has asked for 'proof' of war crimes. Well maybe the admission by Russia that they are bombing Eastern Aleppo is reasonable proof, and the UN also stating they are doing so.
All of us will have seen the ghastly news footage coming out or Aleppo, and other cities in Syria over the past several years. There seems little doubt that hospitals, or what is left of them are being deliberately targeted, and the UN of course is making the usual noises, and being ignored by the protagonists on both sides.
Bombs are being dropped on hospitals and civilian populations. It would seem logical that if bombs are being dropped they are being dropped from aircraft. And although a few might suggest it is the US and their forces doing the bombing I don't buy that one, it is the Syrian army, and the Russians. And from the evidence I have seen which includes the shrapnel remains, it is primarily the Russians doing this. I genuinely do not believe that all this is simply propaganda.
So, we could all sit on our hands and complain how terrible it is. However I have what might be a better solution. We each as individuals seek out anything that Russia is still exporting to the West despite the trade embargos which have been imposed, and indeed anything which contains any Russian components, and we personally boycott those items.
It might be a very tiny step, and indeed could be seen as a gesture, but if a movement of that type started to grow legs then I think that might just start to make a difference.
And it could be taken a bit further. Suppose a supermarket chain is selling for example Russian products. We boycott the supermarket and write to the chairman telling him what we have done, and why.

If however Uncle Vlad turns the gas off in response to pressure from the West then it will e a different story As things stand he doesn't and won't care a damn about whatever Boris threatens, Russian people love him and will resent anything nasty from us

Russian warships are steaming through the English Channel en route to the Mediterranean, including an enormous aircraft carrier. Wish I was n a ferry to Calais, would be an awesome sight to see them We are sending two rowing boats to monitor their progress, that is all that remains of our Navy
