I stayed up for that! Seems Fiji adopted the simple tactic of not letting the ball go to ground. what stopped England doing the same?? 41/5 is annihilation I did too. Fiji were amazing...all over us! Funny, I was pleased for them and right chuffed with the silver . You sound disgusted ๐ BTW, you didn't tell us your sport... What year was it/where?

Great successes for us in Rio ๐. However, I cannot recall a time when the Olympics were so difficult and irritating to try and watch.
The other night, watching gymnastics, Matt Whitlock was just about to do his (crucial points) floor routine when the usual announcement comes over... "coverage will continue on..." you turn over and it's something completely different. It's infuriating! Is someone else in charge of our coverage? If it is actually the BBC they have lost the plot. Actually, I think they lost the plot having Hazel Irvine fronting it...boring.
The other thing, I love tennis as a sport but I turned that off...what's millionaire, professional, Andy Murray doing there for heaven's sake?
Maybe this should be on moan of the day!

Many of the sports people there are in the millionaire bracket. Athletes get massive 'appearance' money.

There are so many BBC people there, they have difficulty using all of them Would be interesting to see the viewing figures, I suspect that Joe Public is fed up with this non stop wall to wall BBC coverage Notice that there are lots of empty seats for the events in Rio

Clare Balding is great isn't she? Relaxed, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We're doing well in the tables aren't we? Might all change this week with athletics though. The main event for me will be looking at mmmm...Michael Johnson and listening to his wonderful voice...melt๐

I'm not sure it was fully obvious to us on telly just how big some of them are, but the Fijians are huge! My father was a rugby referee and when we lived in HongKong (when I was a teenager) he would referee some of the International HongKong sevens games. This was great as we got to sit in the stand where the officials and players sat whilst watching the games. It was a much smaller affair then than now, and teams would often sit in clumps soaking up the atmosphere. Anyway, we had the Fijian rugby team back to ours for a cocktail party, huge huge men whose hands and feet were bigger than anything I've ever seen then and now! I received a pair of Fijian rugby socks and they were my prized possession for many years.
