It is good for reading comics on, though - really nice colours (and you don't get that thing where the print goes too close to the spine so you can't see some of it).
And it is good for reading things when I can't sleep - white letters on a dark background - especially good for ghost stories. I remember reading The Wendigo (Algernon Blackwood) in the first Fontana Book of Ghost Stories (ed. Robert Aickman) with the bedside light on its lowest setting - very effective, but I really had to peer at it to make anything out. I probably wouldn't be able to manage that at all now. So I do really like it for that. If I get another it will be a windows thing though.

The design of small children's bikes, or the lack of design is my moan. I have just bought yet another small bike for my youngest granddaughter. She is 4 tomorrow. All the others have had bikes from granddad at a similar age.
They are incredibly heavy, the pedals are almost under the saddle so no real purchase on the pedals for little legs, + the fact the pedals get in the way when they want to put their feet down.
That and a pretty poor build quality. I am fortunate in being able to sort things but a dad with minimum practical kill would have a very torrid time putting one together. Cone nuts very badly adjusted so either loose or so tight the wheel won't rotate, the stem nuts in a similar state, brakes which are a nightmare to adjust so that first they work and second they come all the ay off the rim when the lever is released. And to get the stabilisers solid you are at the point of stripping the threads on the axle.
But now it is complete tomorrow I guess it will be a smile machine!

Jon: 4 tomorrow? Lovely. Don't want to rub it in by asking the price... I wonder if she will appreciate all Grandad's efforts 😁
We probably all started out with tricycles... you never even see them! My brother had one that had a telescopic rod which Dad could keep hold of...stop the little bu..er racing off!

Well done! You are only the second person to recognise where the name came from in over 10 years. You've been in the wrong forum. I've been singing it in my head since I saw your first post 😁Me too..it's a favourite song of mine. I like this version

Or it folds over and sticks to itself and you need to start all over again.

So organised Gus. I remember when the kids were small, always asking for specialist stationary. I used to say "what d'you think this is, W H Smith?"
