John Le Mesurier (born John Elton Le Mesurier Halliley, 5 April 1912 – 15 November 1983) was a BAFTA Award-winning English actor. He is best remembered for his role as Sergeant Arthur Wilson in the BBC situation comedy Dad's Army (1968-77). Le Mesurier was born at No. 35 Chaucer Road, Bedford, Bedfordshire in 1912, the son of a solicitor, Charles Elton Halliley and Amy Michelle Le Mesurier.

A very nice man, he didn't like driving a car. Wouldn't drive over a mountain or a bridge. He got out of his car on Westminster bridge, left it there and walked home never to drive again. After a successful career in films he of course made many episodes of Dad's Army. They didn't expect it to be such a hit and if you watch carefully he looks directly at the camera in each and every episode. That was obviously on purpose.

Ian Richard Kyle Paisley, Baron Bannside, PC (born 6 April 1926) is a politician and former church minister from Northern Ireland. As the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), he and Sinn Féin's Martin McGuinness were elected First Minister and deputy First Minister respectively on 8 May 2007. Paisley retired from religious ministry on 27 January 2012.

Pat Paterson (7 April 1910 – 24 August 1978) was an Anglo-Scottish film actress, born in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. Though she made over 20 films, she is most famous for being the wife of French-born actor Charles Boyer.

Actor Tim Piggot Smith has died at the age of 70. Many tv roles and films, sadly missed. R.I.P Tim

Hywel Thomas Bennett (born 8 April 1944) is a Welsh film and television actor. Bennett is known for his recurring title role as James Shelley in the television sitcoms Shelley (1979-84) and its sequel The Return of Shelley (1988-92). After becoming known for his role in the comedy film The Virgin Soldiers (1969), Bennett made appearances in films such as Loot (1970) and Percy (1971).

Isambard Kingdom Brunel, FRS ( 9 April 1806 – 15 September 1859), was a British mechanical and civil engineer who built bridges and dockyards including the construction of the first major British railway, the Great Western Railway, a series of steamships, including the first propeller-driven transatlantic steamship and numerous important bridges and tunnels. His parents were French and he was educated in Caen.

William Booth (10 April 1829 – 20 August 1912) was a British Methodist preacher who founded The Salvation Army and became its first General (1878–1912). The Christian movement with a quasi-military structure and government founded in 1865 has spread from London, England to many parts of the world and is known for being one of the largest distributors of humanitarian aid.

She is most widely known for her role as Detective Inspector Maggie Forbes in the 1980s television series The Gentle Touch and its spin-off series C.A.T.S. Eyes. Conrad Phillips (born 13 April 1930) is a British film and television actor, born in London. His real name is Conrad Philip Havord. He studied at RADA and then appeared in repertory theatre and in the West End. He is best known for portraying William Tell in the popular ITV television series The Adventures of William Tell which ran for 39 episodes from 1958 to 1959. Is it worth my while continuing this list?
