I have really enjoyed looking at the pictures of these old stars... Olivia de Havilland - just wonderful in Gone with the Wind, and The Heiress too...Montgomery Clift was one of my heartthrobs who turned out to be gay. Speaking of gay, it was something that Alan Turing was pardoned (along with all others convicted of indecency) but it was more an admission of how inhuman we were, as Gus pointed out. I looked up Kathy Kirby - great singer, great figure too...but what an odd,sad life. Picked up with a bloke 42 years her senior, he died. I believe she was linked to Brucie then ended up living with a female fan who she intended to marry! In and out of mental health instutions and diagnosed schizophrenic. She died bankrupt. Ooh, your heart sinks for the tragedy of these sorrowful lives.

Jack Hilton He was born John Greenhalgh Hilton in Great Lever near Bolton, Lancashire, the son of George Hilton, a cotton yarn twister. His father was an amateur singer at the local Labour Club and Hylton learned piano to accompany him on the stage.

He's getting ahead of you Mr Wilson. Fond memories! We don't have characters like Barbara any more, probably political correctness these days stifle them

Everything changed from that moment, didn't it? It was all Mantovani and Leroy Anderson before that.... I can remember visiting my older cousins and watching them dancing to Rock around the Clock... I thought it was terribly bold and I felt embarrassed
