Sir Oswald Ernald Mosley, 6th Baronet, of Ancoats, (16 November 1896 – 3 December 1980) was an English politician, known principally as the founder of the British Union of Fascists.

I was surprised on seeing Petula Clark in the credits for Powell and Pressburger's I know where I'm Going. It was like finding out that Susan Stranks from Magpie was in the original The Blue Lagoon, both a generation earlier than you'd have expected.

Loads of famous British birthdays today but I have chosen my favourite blonde tart......... Vanda Godsell She was born near Bristol into the well known Godsell family, best known for its brewery based in Stroud. Her father was an officer in the Navy and served in the Battle of Jutland whilst her mother, Muriel, was the sister of novelist and actress Naomi Jacob. Godsell's sister Felicia was also an actress but her other sister was an editor in the publishing world.

Sir David Wilkie (18 November 1785 – 1 June 1841) was a Scottish painter. Wilkie was the son of the parish minister of Cults in Fife. He developed a love for art at an early age. In 1799, after he had attended school at Pitlessie, Kettle and Cupar, his father reluctantly agreed to his becoming a painter.

Terence "Larry" Parkes (November 19, 1927 – June 25, 2003) was a popular cartoonist from the United Kingdom. His work, consisting largely of single drawings featuring an absurdist view of normal life, was published in many magazines and newspapers, particularly Punch and Private Eye. The pen name under which he worked was apparently inspired by actor Larry Parks

Was listening to Sounds of the 50s last night (great show) as we ate dinner. Presenter said "now here's a record from a lady who had a birthday this week..." Quick as a flash I said "Petula Clark..he's going to play Petula Clark!!!" Which he did. My OH was stunned... I never let on that Arena told me though 😄

Ingrid Pitt (21 November 1937 – 23 November 2010) was an actress best known for her work in horror films of the 1960s and 1970s. Pitt was born Ingoushka Petrov in Warsaw, Poland, to a German father of Russian descent and a Polish Jewish mother. During World War II, she and her family were imprisoned in a concentration camp.

Group Captain Peter Wooldridge Townsend, CVO, DSO, DFC and Bar, RAF (22 November 1914 – 19 June 1995) was Equerry to King George VI 1944–1952 and held the same position for Queen Elizabeth II 1952–1953. Group Captain Townsend is best known for his ill-fated romance with Princess Margaret. Townsend was born 1914 in Rangoon, Burma, and was educated at Haileybury School.
