Mahalia Jackson ( October 26, 1911 – January 27, 1972) was an American gospel singer. Possessing a contralto voice, she was referred to as "The Queen of Gospel". She became one of the most influential gospel singers in the world and was heralded internationally as a singer and civil rights activist. She was described by entertainer Harry Belafonte as "the single most powerful black woman in the United States". She recorded about 30 albums (mostly for Columbia Records) during her career, and her 45 rpm records included a dozen "golds"—million-sellers. "I sing God's music because it makes me feel free", Jackson once said about her choice of gospel, adding, "It gives me hope. With the blues, when you finish, you still have the blues." Probably one of the greatest gospel singers, ever

One of my heroes:
Gershon Legman (November 2, 1917 – February 23, 1999) was an American cultural critic and folklorist, best known for his books The Rationale of the Dirty Joke (1968) and The Horn Book: Studies in Erotic Folklore and Bibliography (1964).
An obsessive collector of dirty jokes, which he repeats and analyses in the two massive volumes of "Rationale of the Dirty Joke." He also introduced paper folding (Origami) to the US. He was the originator of the phrase "Make Love, Not War".
I found this, which sums him and the book up pretty well:
I have just discovered that he wrote an autobiography, in five volumes: and here's me trying to get rid of some books.

Peter Joseph Andrew Hammill (born 5 November 1948) is an English singer-songwriter. He is a founder member of the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. Best known as a singer, he also plays guitar and piano. He also acts as a record producer for his own recordings and occasionally for other artists.
Peter Hammill was born in Ealing, west London, and moved with his family to Derby when he was 12. He attended Beaumont College and Manchester University, where he studied Liberal Studies in Science. Hammill has stated that his grandfather was originally from Pakistan. Hammill's voice is a very distinctive element of his music. He sings in an emotional, often even dramatic way. As a former Jesuit chorister, his delivery is usually Received Pronunciation British English and ranges in tone from peacefully celestial to screaming rants (which are nevertheless highly controlled). Singing in registers from baritone to high falsetto, he growls, croons, shrieks and shouts in ways that have drawn comparison with the guitar playing of Jimi Hendrix.
This rocks like a muther:

A very good friend of mine and old acquaintance was born on the 15th of November: his eldest son was born on the 15th of November, and his second son's first son on the 15th of November. (John Aubrey)

Why do we need International "anybody's" Day?
Publicity for things like cancer screening, etc, is one reason.

OK, Why not just have a "cancer screening" day? Cancers specifically affecting men.
And other things affecting men as well.

Believe you me, if you have had cancer either a man or a woman you do not need any special day to remind you, or remember

Emmanuela Beltrán Rahola (21 November 1946 – 11 July 2016) better known as Emma Cohen, actress and writer.
She starred in several European horror films of the 1970s, including the one below (The Obscene Mirror), in which she also plays piano in a jazz band, recorded live on film.
I have only just found out that she has died. That's depressing.

I forgot these two on Tuesday:
Ilona Staller (born 26 November 1951), widely known by her stage name Cicciolina, Italian MP from 1987 to 1992:
Aurora Snow (born November 26, 1981) is an American writer for the Daily Beast.
Both fine, decent people. You'll either know about them or you won't.
