I loved all the UPA cartoons - I spent many hours in Cameo News Theatres (6 cartoons and a newsreel) breathing in the sophisticated design work, the impressionism, the sheer loony humour and the second hand marijuana smoke that pervaded the place. Quincy Magoo, voiced by Jim Backus very nearly didn't get a showing, as all the distributors knew about cartoons was that they featured talking animals and Magoo certainly talked but was definitely of the homo sapiens persuasion, if a tad light on the 'sapiens' bit. Huh uh uh, by George!

I remember home made Christmas pudding that tasted like rubber and always included silver threepenny bits, the pudding always served with custard
