Hi Norty
Just done one for Goldie.
CLICK: PROFILE (Top of the page)
On profile page CLICK MODIFY
On modify page enter PASSWORD (twice)
Go down to: AVATAR URL...browse your photo library and select photo. Insert URL in space provided. Set Size: Width Height(max is 100 x 100 but you'll find 70x 100 is usually about right. Scroll to bottom left and CLICK MODIFY PROFILE

OK - go there and click on it. You should see three versions of its address over to the right - "Links to share this photo" - click on the one marked "Direct" to copy it to your clipboard.
Back at the ranch here, Near the top of the page, click on "Profile", then click on "Modify profile"
Scroll down to "Avatar" - leave the drop down menu set to "None" Below it is "Avatar URL" - paste your clipboard address in there (Right click, 'Paste')
Assuming your avatar is 100px by 100px or smaller, fill in the width and height.
At the bottom of the page click on the "Modify profile" button. Now back out, and click on "Home".
When this board is updated to the new version, and the whining has died down (!) you'll be able to copy the image straight from your own PC.

I've done it!! Well Scorps and Arena helped big style. ;D I was tagging the URL dodar in photobucket not the direct one. I couldn't understand why it wouldn't work. Thanks boys My picture is of Bob the bullfinch who lived in our garden about 3 years ago. He only lived there for a about a week, as he couldn't fly. Bob would hop and jump onto the lower branches of the crab-apple tree work his way to the top and then sit there all day. Sadly he didn't stay there, every time there was movement in the garden he would fall to the ground and limp off under the hedge. We would sit and watch him hop across the lawn, down the side of the house and into the front garden (about 50 yards in total) and back again. One day he was hopping past the front door just as Max, the lab, and I were going for a walk. Max wasn't on the lead at this point and as i was locking up the house he chased poor Bob into the holly bush and came trotting back to me looking very pleased with himself with a tail feather poking out his mouth. He'd only got Bob in his mouth!! after shouting at him to drop it, he eventually spat out poor, soggy, Labrador drooled Bob onto the drive. There lay Bob, not dead yet but very close to it panting away. I picked up Bob and lay him under a bush hoping his end would be swift and drier than his recent brush with the great bullfinch in the sky. By the time Max and I returned Bob had died so i scattered a few leaves over him and wished him happiness. He lives on as my screen saver and now my avatar. The reason I have such a beautiful picture of him is that a friend of mine is a keen birder and has a fancy camera with a superduper lens. He took it from near the back door a good 50 ft from the crab-apple tree.

It's a metaphor... when you right click on something to copy it, it is stored temporarily in a bit of memory know as the clipboard, and then you can paste it from there (it stays in the clipboard until you copy something else there, so you can paste it multiple times).
