My Dad was a great fan of Sharp's toffees. My dad was a fan of Sharp's too. He used to say,"sharp's the word and Sharp's the toffee." Funny,I haven't thought of that for many many years. I remember it too but as "sharpe's the word and Sharpe's the word for toffee". It is funny how we remember things like this but forget things we try not to forget.

Yorkshire Relish, apparently.
My brother used to live next door to the factory that made it (in Apperley Bridge, where the preacher John Wroe tried to walk on water, and upon failing was chased by a disappointed and angry congregation back up the hill into Bradford); you'd wake on a spring morning with to the scent of YR seeping through the window frames.
It was taken over by Hammond's, and then I don't know what happened. I never see it any more.

Thank you.
(Bloody expensive though - I think I'll carry on with Tiptree. I don't care for that "YR" business either.)
Hederson's seem to have taken over the thin Yorkshire Relish name: but that's not the same stuff.

Some were terrifying - particularly as portrayed by Hattie Jacques in "Carry On ...."
