I am in Chingford. East London. I am guessing you are in New Southgate. Not a million miles away.

Who is in New Southgate? I lived there, and my brother still does, our house (I supposedly own half of it) is up behind the Albert Road playing fields.

Bedhampton - just outside Portsmouth. Mrs J and I were both born and brought up in the city but both left to start work at the end of the 60s. We couldn't believe our luck when my work moved down to Swanwick in 2002 and we ended up getting a paid-for company move to the area we were intending to retire to a few years later. I took early retirement at 58 4 years later and have been wasting away the years at the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum - and of course that now well-known radio station - ever since. Oh and with reference the Scottish fish suppers mentioned a few posts back - we used to treat ourselves to 2 turbot suppers at least once a week when we lived in Aberdeen as newly-weds! They were heaven on earth and we've never come across anything so tasty (in the fish and chip line) since! TJ

It is in the fridge for tomorrow. We have friends arriving shortly so roast leg of pork tonight and fish pie ready for tomorrow night. I astound myself with my organisation at times!!! Dessert tonight is chocolate whisky cake - starter, melon out of the greenhouse!

You must drop in next time G. It's very busy in the summer but not as crowded as Carcassone Not been on here for a very long time but Mature Cheese is closing so thought I would dip my toe in, despite not having been missed I remember going to Carcassone and that area some years ago. It was not only on the 'tourist trail' but I realised later had featured quite heavily in a book, 'A year in Provence', from which a quite terrible TV series was made. At that time I had not read it. We happened on a bar and went in. It was stuffed with English, all pretending they had just casually walked in. I ordered a couple of beers in French and the English patrons started taking an interest in me, and I felt most uncomfortable. It was only afterwards I realised that they were trying to place me as a character in the bloody book!

Hi JJ You have been missed A Year in Provence did none of us a favour. He took the piss out of (recognisable) locals, so naturally the French were upset. It seems the further south you go the more cliquey the Brits are!

The press say I live in Highams Park Village. But it is just another suburb of London. Just the same as any outer London place
