No All cookery books and TV chefs menus contain endless spices and herbs, and as someone who has a tricky system I stick to plain and simple cookery Difficult to find menus that suit me, James Tannner does amazing simple things with fish. We use his sea bass simply stuffed with a lemon

I have dozens of cookery books. The oldest one I have if from the 40s,I think. It's the Good Housekeeping Compendium which my mother always used and gave to me not long before she died. I used to be really interested in cooking and would often take a cookery book to bed and read recipes before going to sleep. I have tried all manner of foods and recipes, but never quite followed a recipe exactly. I always add or leave out various ingredients,to suit us. For a year or two now,I have not had the same interest in cooking. OH likes small tasty meals and so do I. There are many things neither of us can eat now, spices being a major no no.
