We all love a pie but what's your favourite?

I used to love all pies, but Melton Mowbray pork pie was my favourite. For several years now I have been unable to eat pastry of any type.

I too love Melton Mowbray pies but the peppery spices do not agree with my system Favourite at the moment are Morrisons chunky steak pies, yummy with loads of meat

They've been in Iceland and Tesco for a while. we are deliberately avoiding them 'till just before Christmas, although have bought supplies of chocolates that were on special offer

I have returned to Ocado for my online shopping ad I am much happier than I was with Tesco. I left Ocado because they put up the delivery prices, but now their smart passes are cheaper than Tesco's. I never seemed to get any bargains at Tesco, but I do at Ocado. The only thing they don't sell is Village bread. The Welsh batch is my favourite bread and I can get it from the Spar, so it's not a problem. I was recently thinking about buying a new bread maker. My old one died a couple of years ago. I made my own bread without a bread maker for years, then I went through several bread makers over the years. Now I am wondering if I really want the job any more.I'm getting to the age of CBA.(can't be **sed.)

I think there must be so many breadmakers in the back of cupboards these days, such a variety of bread available in the supermarkets

They used to advise if trying to sell your property to have a bread maker on the go, or a coffee percolator when people came to view

I read in a Women's magazine years ago that the way to welcome your husband home in the evening after his busy day is to have onions cooking! Re pies: I often buy two mini Melton Mowbray pies from M&S or Waitrose when I am walking the coastline. They are good filler-uppers! My favourite savoury pie is a Higgidi Indian spiced veggie pie. Their little Cheddar and Onion Chutney veggie rolls are great too for the rucksack.

I buy a stock of partly baked bread and finish it in the oven. It lasts for ages.

I bake most of our pies myself. I even make pork pies.

I used to make lots of pies and tarts. For some reason I am good at pastry, not so good at sponge cakes and really good at heavy fruit cakes. Now I can't eat pastry(there's no justice),so I don't make pies any more. I used to make a sausage plait, where I mixed the sausage meat with some sage and onion stuffing. That was always very popular.

Mmm, the sausage plait sounds so yummy, Althea and Arena.
I used to cook all kinds of interesting things. My first delve into veggie food came from a Cranks recipe book that a friend gave me about 35 years ago. It was my go-to when experimenting with meat - free meals. I still use the book although I am not so adventurous any more. And ready made things like little pies are easier for me.
