Hi gang! Just got back from my sons place in Bordeaux. Had a lovely time. Saturday was Zombie day in Bordeaux. All the youngsters and some of the oldsters were roaming the streets dressed as Zombies. It is an annual event with a big party at night and prizes for the best costumes. Some of the fountains in this magnificent city were spouting 'blood' instead of water.
I was nominated for a prize but it was withdrawn, when they found I was not in costume (joke)

Before breakfast today I upgraded my operating system: from Windows 8 to 8.1. I had never done a Windows update before so it was a bit of an anxious time - but it went very smoothly. I also managed to find a way to disable the ruddy Caps Lock key - yay! (I had a program that did it on my old PC, but it didn't work on the new one.) So - a good day so far.

I'm still on Windows 7
Watched the promo video on Windows 8.1 and can't see how I'll benefit from the upgrade....................

My laptop has 7, and I don't plan to upgrade that.

I started a new job today, I've finally got onto the supply list for Edinburgh City. I had mostly P3's today and I have P6 on Friday. I have missed being in the classroom so it was good to get back in there.

Primary 3 is the equivalent to Year 2 in England, I hope I have got that right!! P1 is Reception P7 is the equivalent of Year 6. I did my final teaching Practice at St Pats (Patrick of course) but I don't think it exists any more. We were allowed to choose our school for our final TP - St Ps was as rough as you could get then, a dawdle compared to today methinks!

Greetings from a hot and sunny Lanzarote.
Picked up a two hour delay at Gatwick which is unusual for a flight early on a Sunday morning. Boarded on time and pushed back on the dot only to taxy to a remote parking spot and shut down - a problem with our ATC slot time allegedly!
An hour later, we finally got to the holding point and entered the runway only to exit at the next intersection and taxy back to the stand - one of the cabin crew had become ill and had to be replaced! An hour later with new crew member and having refueled and obtained a new slot time we finally got airborne.
To add insult to injury, it was raining when we got to Lanzrote but Monday and today have been clear blue skies with wall-to-wall sunsine so all the travails of Sunday are now forgotten.
All the best TJ

All those foreigners - and only filthy foreign muck to eat - and you can't get a proper cup of tea...
Actually that sounds great!

Yes, I know what you mean, scorp but this hotel (Timanfaya Palace, Playa Blanca) is very popular with retired Brits - just like us! Also, we brought some tea bags with us and a trip to the local supermarket yielded the remaining essentials - a carton of mik and a packet of digestive biscuits.
Two out of three ain't bad I suppose! ;D
