I haven't researched this personally, but I did read that many years ago Scotland funded a trading mission that ended tragically. It also left Scotland bankrupt. The rest of the UK bailed Scotland out at the time. If Scotland leaves the UK will we get our money back? I'm sorry ,I'm being facetious. I just wanted to point out that Scotland hasn't been so badly done to as the Scots seem to think.

What you are referring to was the Darien project - nothing to do with the 'people' of Scotland - just a few 'high heid yins' who bankrupted themselves through greed and THEY begged England to bail them out. the result was a union that the Scots had no say in and didn't want. Nothing has changed! As has been stated already, if the nation of Scotland is such a burden to Westminster why would they want to keep it? Logic surely tells the real story!

Thankfully the majority of sensible people in Scotland realise how dependent they are on England and voted to remain in the Union

The Darien Scheme failed, in part, because of an English blockade, and - I think - because it was illegal for any English person or company to invest in or to help the project.

His hair has magically grown overnight - but don't worry it's cropped again today.
I wouldn't buy a tap-washer off him!

Fascinating that a man who refuses to discuss his family, private lives, and loved ones then releases this pic as a PR exercise. A disaster ! I wonder if this was his attempt to emulate Theresa running through a wheat field or a remake of the movie Splendour In The Grass I like the comment that it looks like a carer taking her charge for a day out

Boris's arrogance toward the British people is outrageous. He is definitely not PM material. Typical toff, he's a relic from the 50s I thought the Tory party had moved on Thankfully, if he is chosen, he will only be there for five minutes. He can only pursue a "no deal" policy which will result in a motion of no confidence and sensible Tories will help to bring the government down

Well, the police have caught up with him now so it's all a bit moot:
