It's amazing how resilient animals can be. A little TLC helps a great deal. Onwards and upwards for Oberon.

My daughter's cat Whisky had a dreadful accident two years ago. Whisky never made any sounds in his daily life. No miows, no growls etc. Late one night my daughter and her chap were awakened by miows coming from the garden. They found Whisky lying on the gravel just outside the patio doors, unable to move. They tenderly carried him indoors and immediately rang an emergency vet. Whisky was taken to the surgery. It was found that he had injured his pelvis terribly. It has been shunted up into his body. He had also damaged his lungs and liver. He wasn't expected to live.
The poor darling had obviously been in a car accident and had somehow made it back to my daughter's home. The thought of him struggling home in such pain is heart breaking.
Whisky was eventually sent to a private clinic where he stayed for several weeks-at enormous expense paid for by insurance. Bit by bit he started to heal. When he finally was able to go home, he had to spend two months in a cage. He hardly moved for weeks. Lula the lurcher would lie just outside the cage and watch him. She pined for his company as they get on so well together. We would take it in turns to lie beside the open cage door and talk to Whisky or touch him gently.
Now Whisky is fully well. It is as if he had never had his horrid accident. Two sweet things are different about him now. He is so extra loving - and he finally found his gentle miow! After years of silence from birth, he now talks!
