I love honey, have been taking it for years. We are lucky enough to have quite a few bee keepers around us and have local honey.

It's a great idea. It just shows that there is good news out there, but the press don't rate it newsworthy.

The fortunes of otter, pine marten and polecat populations in Britain have “markedly improved” since the 1960s according to new research. Each has bounced back from near extinction, meaning the only carnivorous mammal that remains in danger of being wiped out in Britain is the wildcat. Its Scottish population is at risk from hybridisation with domestic cats.
The findings came in February in a report released by scientists at Exeter University, Vincent Wildlife Trust and the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. They discovered that otters have almost completely recolonised Great Britain, polecats have expanded their range in southern Britain from Wales, and pine martens have expanded their range from the Scottish Highlands.
Badger populations are estimated to have doubled since the 1980s, helped by a decline in persecution since their legal protection in 1973 and protection of setts in 1992. Foxes, weasels and stoats also enjoy increases

I'm afraid I don't share this enthusiasm for the "save the badger" movement, I think this must all be based on childhood nostalgia and the Brock books. They eat hedgehogs and allegedly bring TB to cows

Badgers are stinky, bad tempered animals with no apparent redeeming features.

According to Dr John and Julie Gottman – founders of the Gottman Institute, which studies relationships – all successful relationships are, ultimately, underpinned by kindness. What’s more, the most important time to be kind they claim, is during conflict, such as an argument with a partner. This is also the hardest time to be kind.
“Kindness is about showing empathy, acceptance and tolerance,” explains Lawrence Stoyanowski, a Vancouver-based therapist, who follows the principles set out by the Gottman Institute in his work. “It’s about being able to scan your partner for things to appreciate rather than criticise.” “How we treat each other determines the kind of community we live in, which determines the kind of country we live, which determines the kind of world we live in,” says Thurston. “I believe that kindness is one of the most powerful tools we have.”

I know I'm an old cynic but in my experience these days kindness is likely to be abused by the recipient

Sometimes maybe, but it's always nice to be appreciated when you show kindness. What does a smile cost, what does a quick thank you cost.

Unfortunately,if people are not used to kindness, they can see it as weakness or an opportunity to take advantage. There is far too little kindness today. If you do a kindness for someone, they can be suspicious. It's a sad state of affairs.

New rules are set to take effect later this month
Children in the UK should be better protected from gambling adverts, thanks to new rules coming in this month (April 2019). Changes to advertising standards will forbid bookmakers from placing ads on websites or in computer games that are popular with children.
They must also use “all tools available” to prevent their adverts from targeting under-18s on social media. The rules prohibit under-25s from appearing in gambling promotions, although bookmakers can still sponsor sports teams.

Smile at a child or say hello and the parents are immediately suspicious, and God forbid that you take a photograph
