Things was much different when we were kids. Everyone had their doors open and kids played in the streets whatever the weather. Now with 24 hour tv and game stations, computer games etc the meaning of Christmas is not quite the same. Everything is commercialised now and it's dog eat dog in retail. As you say above Christmas starts far too early. I remember mentioning on here last year, the local Spar by us put all their Easter eggs on the shelves on Boxing day.

It's 13 weeks to Pancake Day and there is already flour and eggs in the shops.

I think the smaller tins reflect the price they sell for, there are the bigger tins still around but if the Which research is to be believed there are fewer of our favourites. My fav is the Quality St triangular chocolate ones
