Does any of you smoke and have you ever?
I have never , save experimenting as a lad.

I started smoking at the age of 9 . Studs Bain and I bought a packet of five and smoked (during lunch-hour) till I was sick and had to be sent home. Regardless, from then I was hooked. I smoked when I could and despite being very athletic I became a 60 a day man. I managed to kick the habit when my kids were small , 30 + years ago. PS It used to make me (12)smile at school ,when teacher said it would stunt your growth.I was already over 6 ft.

That other thing that kids used to be warned about didn't stunt your growth either, then

I've smoked on and off for 40 years.
Started with No6, but stopped soon after.
Then, later, mostly Rothman's (because you could get a packet of 14 for just a bit more than the price of 10); and then, after a break, on to thin roll-ups ("Borstal toothpicks"). Many years off, then back on, then off again. I only smoke at odd times now, every 6 weeks or so - not at pubs either, since the bloke I go drinking with took up vaping. It takes me nearly a year to get through a packet.
I like smoking, but I get fed up with it after a while.

Yeah, I'm still puffing away. It's been part of my life for 45 years or so. That first packet, funded from my schoolgirl pocket money, cost 75 cents. These days it's over $30 a packet - the Australian government gleefully raking in the profits from society's favourite villains kindly encouraging we poor smokers to give it up. I miss the smoking days; not just mine, but when it was just part of everyday life, and no-one banging on about it. I should've taken up heroin and ice instead; I'd be a poor victim instead of a villain

I tried cigarettes and cannabis one time each but didn't like either.

Pubs have lost their atmosphere now, you can stand at the bar and talk to yourself. If you want to join in a conversation you have to go outside in all weathers and join the smokers.

Very unscientific I know but I was a very heavy smoker until I retired and cigarettes became so expensive I knew I would not be able to smoke on my pension, and I gave up. Thought I had got away with it until my recent start of a lung cancer
