Morning all: No sign of flaming June for all of this week I'm afraid. Not budging again today.

There are so many "handicapped" animals, especially dogs that have some sort of disability gadget, it's amazing how they adapt Our neighbours daughter has a couple of dachshunds one of which was suddenly off it's back legs, could not walk just crawl. Vet diagnosed a slipped disk and so he had surgery, not totally successful. So the next move was to fit him up with a couple of tiny wheels and after a few hours he was off, racing around like his old self and the hope is they will eventually come off as his muscles strengthen. Only problem is that his "mummy" has to take them off so he go to the toilet

Animals, especially dogs are wonderfully resilient. So are young children. I will never forget seeing a little five year old girl who had lost her legs below the knee due to meningitis. She sent a letter to Father Christmas asking for some some sparkly red shoes. She had prostheses on her legs and was learning to walk. John Lewis heard about this and invited her to come to the shop and pick out a pair of sparkly red shoes. I have a lump in my throat just remembering this. The local news cameras were there to catch the moment when this brave little girl got a pair of sparkly shoes that fit her. The beaming smile on her face is something you could never forget. It made me feel ashamed of complaining about my arthritic joints.

My daughter must have been about 8 or 9 years ole when a boy arrived in her school who had prosthetic legs. He fascinated her and she wanted to know if she could have her legs chopped off to be like him She was his best friend all through primary and secondary school, you reminded me about this and made me wonder whatever happened to him

I agree, children and animals adapt far better than us who are set in our ways. Well, it's been a lovely day today, not as warm as last weekend but nice and sunny.

Morning all: Blimey it is getting colder by the day rather than warmer. No sign of another heatwave yet.
